This document is a draft prepared for review. It describes how Palatis intends to work and is not legal advice.
Everything about paying for Palatis, in the order you are likely to need it: what the plans cost, when we charge, how to stop, and how to get money back. This page forms part of the Terms of Service.
The plans
| Plan | Price | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 dollars, indefinitely | Palate profile and flavor map, three meal builds a day, pantry sync up to 40 items, grocery hand-off, one saved weekly plan |
| Pro | 9 dollars a month, or 84 dollars a year | Everything in Free, plus unlimited builds and weekly plans, macro tracking with per-meal targets, coach notes on every build, uncapped pantry sync |
| Table | 16 dollars a month | Everything in Pro for up to 6 palates in one household, a shared pantry, one merged grocery list and per-person allergen guardrails |
Prices are in US dollars and exclude VAT or sales tax, which is added at checkout based on your billing country. A seventh palate on Table is 2 dollars a month. Annual Pro is 84 dollars, which is two months off the monthly rate.
There is no trial, because there is a free plan
We do not run a countdown trial that quietly converts into a charge. Free is the trial, it does not expire, and it is genuinely usable — three builds a day, the whole palate profile and the grocery hand-off. Upgrade when the limits start to annoy you, not when a timer runs out.
Billing cycle
Paid plans are prepaid. Monthly plans renew on the same day each month, annual plans on the same date each year, and we charge the payment method on file at the start of each period. If the day does not exist in a given month we bill on the last day of it. Invoices are emailed and are always downloadable from Settings.
Upgrading mid-cycle takes effect immediately and we charge the difference pro rata. Downgrading takes effect at the end of the current period, so you keep what you paid for. Moving from monthly to annual starts a fresh annual term and credits the unused monthly days.
Your 14-day right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the European Union you have fourteen days from the start of a paid subscription to withdraw, no reason required. Tell us at [email protected] or use the cancel button in Settings within that window and we refund the full amount within fourteen days, to the method you paid with.
One honest caveat the law requires us to state: because Palatis is digital content delivered immediately, you are asked at checkout to confirm that you want access straight away and that you understand this shortens the withdrawal right in proportion to what you have used. In practice we do not pro-rate small usage — if you cancel inside fourteen days, you get the whole amount back. If you generated hundreds of builds in that window we may deduct a proportionate amount, and we will show you the arithmetic before we do.
Cancelling
Cancel any time in Settings, in two clicks, without emailing anyone and without a retention call. Cancellation stops the next charge; you keep the paid features until the end of the period you already paid for, then the account drops to Free rather than closing.
Dropping to Free keeps your palate profile, your pantry and your saved builds. Anything above the Free limits becomes read-only rather than deleted — you will see your old weekly plans, you just cannot create new ones beyond the daily cap. Deleting the account entirely is a separate action, described in the Privacy Policy, and it is irreversible after 30 days.
Refunds outside the withdrawal window
- Something broke. If a fault stopped you using a paid feature for more than 48 hours, tell us and we credit or refund the affected period.
- You were charged twice. Full refund, no discussion, usually the same working day.
- You forgot to cancel an annual renewal. Write within 14 days of the charge and we refund it in full, once.
- You did not use it. If a paid month shows no builds at all, ask and we will refund it.
- You simply changed your mind mid-term. We are not obliged to refund the unused part, and usually we do not — but ask, because we would rather keep the relationship than the nine dollars.
Refunds go back to the original payment method. Bank timing is out of our hands; allow up to ten working days.
Failed payments
If a charge fails we retry on days three, five and nine, and email you each time. The account keeps its paid features throughout. After the fourth failure it drops to Free with nothing deleted, and paying the outstanding invoice restores the plan immediately.
Price changes
We will not raise the price of a plan you are already on without telling you at least 30 days before your next renewal, by email and in the app. If you do not want the new price, cancel before the renewal date and nothing is charged. An annual term is price-locked for its whole term. Introductory or campaign pricing states its duration on the page where you bought it, and we email you before it ends.
If you subscribed through Apple or Google
Subscriptions bought inside the iOS or Android app are billed by Apple or Google, not by us. That means the platform holds the payment relationship: cancellation and refunds run through the App Store or Google Play, on their timetable and under their rules, and we cannot cancel or refund them from our side. We can still see the plan and support you in the app. Prices can differ from our website because of platform fees and local tax. To move billing to us, cancel with the platform and resubscribe at palatis.app once the platform term ends.
Taxes, invoices and business use
VAT is charged where required and shown separately on the invoice. Enter a valid EU VAT number in Settings and we apply the reverse charge from the next invoice onward. Invoices carry our KvK and VAT numbers and can be re-addressed to a company name at any time; ask and we reissue.
